As a result of an exciting new long-term partnership with Coles, we are growing our team based in Melbourne. This is an exciting opportunity to work with an unparalleled array of datasets, the latest technology in the industry, across multiple business divisions. We’re in the process of a six-year journey to transform how Coles leverages data to drive key, strategic decision making.

The Coles team is the largest onsite team at IRI outside of our headquarters in the US. Currently a team of 13, we have big plans to expand over the next 12 months!

Your responsibilities:

Using the latest technology in the industry, you will become a trusted business partner to the Coles business by providing valuable market and customer insights that will further support their business goals, and shape how data, insights and technology is used to drive growth across the FMCG landscape. You will have the opportunity to work with an unparalleled array of datasets (scan, market read, shopper panel and customer data) all encompassed on the Coles Synergy platform.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Deliver high quality market and customer analysis across multiple data sets and propose suitable solutions which aim to maintain and grow revenue
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, effectively managing expectations and influencing decisions
  • Be proactive and efficient in gathering important business information that will identify potential challenges and opportunities
  • Drive client growth by proactively seeking opportunities to offer additional services
  • Effectively influence high impact projects and business processes within the Coles business

We’re looking for:

An experienced Insights Consultant who has a thorough understanding of the retail and FMCG market (preferably in the grocery sector). You will have the ability to analyse data in order to answer important business questions. You will be entrepreneurially minded, have a growth mindset and be confident in liaising with stakeholders. You’ll also love to collaborate and enjoy working in a team.

Ideally, you will have:

  • At least two years insights experience in either an FMCG market research agency, manufacturer or retailer
  • Strong ability to analyse multiple data sets (scan and shopper) and provide insights to achieve business objectives
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, manage expectations, and influence key business decisions
  • Experience working with local or international customer loyalty programs or panel data (desirable)
